SDI Studio Terms of Service
Effective date: 18 October 2026 Last updated: 28 September 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Jeremy Anderson, doing business as Bright Foundry Design ("Bright Foundry", "we", "us"). They cover the SDI Studio application and the sdistudio.app website (together, "SDI Studio"). By creating an account or using SDI Studio, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. Who can use SDI Studio
You must be at least 18 years old and use SDI Studio in your work as an education professional. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity on your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has used it. One account is for one person; please don't share it.
2. SDI Studio is in beta
SDI Studio is under active development. Features may change, be added or be removed, and it may sometimes be unavailable or not work as expected. We will try to give notice of significant changes, but we can't promise it every time during the beta.
3. Your licence to use SDI Studio
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use SDI Studio for your own professional work, under these terms.
Free accounts include a limited number of goals (currently ten), as shown in the app. We will not charge you anything unless you have agreed to a paid plan and its price in advance.
4. Your content and student information
"Your content" means what you type into SDI Studio and the drafts it produces for you. You own your content. You give us only the limited permissions needed to provide SDI Studio to you.
SDI Studio is designed so that student information goes from your computer directly to our AI model provider and is not sent to us. When you use SDI Studio with student information:
- You are responsible for following the laws and your school's or district's policies that apply to student information, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and for having any permission those policies require.
- Don't include student information in the in-app help chat, in feedback or problem reports, or in messages to us. Those features are designed to reach us.
5. AI drafts and your professional judgment
SDI Studio uses artificial intelligence to draft IEP goals and to identify the rules, guidance and forms that apply to them. Please read this section carefully.
- Drafts are starting points. They can be incomplete or wrong. Review every draft before you use it.
- Citations are provided so you can check them. SDI Studio shows you the source behind its compliance decisions so that you can verify them yourself. A citation is not a guarantee that a goal, IEP or process meets every legal requirement, and rules can change after our most recent check.
- SDI Studio is not legal advice and does not replace the professional judgment of you, your IEP team, or your district's special education and legal staff.
- You and your IEP team remain responsible for the content of each IEP and for decisions about each student.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- copy, modify, reverse engineer or decompile SDI Studio, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
- extract, share or misuse the credentials SDI Studio uses to connect to our services or to our AI model provider;
- share your account, or get around usage limits such as the free goal limit;
- use SDI Studio in a way that breaks the law, infringes anyone's rights, or violates the usage policies of our AI model provider, Anthropic;
- interfere with or disrupt SDI Studio or the systems it runs on.
7. Services we rely on
SDI Studio depends on services provided by others, including Anthropic, which processes the text you send to draft goals. Their availability affects ours. Our Privacy Policy lists these providers and what they do.
8. Our property
SDI Studio, including its software, its design, the way its compliance database is structured, organised and annotated, and the SDI Studio and Bright Foundry names and marks, belongs to Bright Foundry. The laws, rules and public documents the database draws on are not ours; they remain free for anyone to use. These terms don't give you any rights to them beyond the licence in section 3.
9. Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve SDI Studio without owing you anything. Please leave student information out of them.
10. Suspending or ending your use
You can stop using SDI Studio and ask us to close your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we need to for legal or security reasons, or if we stop offering SDI Studio. Where we reasonably can, we will give you notice first. Your drafts are stored on your own computer, so they stay with you.
11. Disclaimer
SDI Studio is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that SDI Studio will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its drafts or citations will be complete, accurate or current.
12. Limit on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Bright Foundry will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to SDI Studio is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose and US$100.
13. Your responsibility to us
If your misuse of SDI Studio or your breach of these terms leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Franklin County, Ohio.
15. Changes to these terms
If we make a material change, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using SDI Studio after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can stop using SDI Studio and close your account.
